Online Abstract Submission - 11th Annual Conference
Members of the North American Association for Laser Therapy and other
individuals are invited to submit papers for consideration for
presentation during the 11th Annual NAALT Conference in 2011. Conference theme is - Shining Light On Inflammation & Repair; Basic Science to Clinical Practice All
papers must be submitted online by February 19th, 2011 and adhere to the instructions for authors.
Selection of papers will be made by the Abstract Review Committee on
March 1st 2011. Authors of papers selected for presentation at the 2011
NAALT conference will receive discounted registration of $399.
Guidelines for Abstracts:
- Your abstract should be in English language
- Title should be brief, in capital letters, not exceeding 150 characters (including spaces)
- Limit abstract to 250 words (Introduction, Methods, Results and Conclusions).
- Avoid the inclusion of tables and pictures in the abstract.
- Use the template provided and single spacing throughout abstract.
- Author's name(s) must be in format - Last name, followed by Initials.
- Underline presenter's name only.
- Affiliations - practice / institute, city and country.
- Clinical and animal studies must explicitly state if ethical
disclosures have been clearly obtained (informed patient consent, IRB
approvals in place)
- All funding and sponsors must be explicitly disclosed.
Abstract Outline
The abstract title should be short and succinct; the body of the
abstract should follow logically from the title. Abstracts should
include:
- Abstract Title
- Authors
- Affiliations
- Key Words
- Materials and Methods (what or who were treated: cells, animals, patients, clinical conditions)
Due to the large amounts of discrepancies noted in various
studies, we are instituting a strict disclosure of all relevant
parameters used in studies presented henceforth at NAALT conferences.
Please fill out ALL PARAMETERS relevant to the studies submitted.
Failure to do so will result in automatic rejection without review.
- Manufacturer of the equipment, location and model number of instrument used.
- Wavelength/s: in nm
- Power: in mW or W
- Beam spot size, or area of irradiation from the device: in cm2
- Power Density: in W/cm2
- Energy Density: in J/cm2
- Pulsing or not. Include frequency of pulses and duty cycle of device
- Treatment Time
- Dose per treatment session: in Joules
- Frequency of treatments
- Total number of treatments
- Direct contact or not. Scanning or not.
- Area/s treated: local or distal or both.
- Probe Design - cluster / single probe
- Location and number of points.
- Grid pattern/sequential treatment
- Results
- Conclusion
- References (not obligatory, limit to 10 most relevant)
Any abstract that does not meet the format requirements will be rejected.
Key Points:
- Authors are expected to disclose the nature of any financial
interests they have with companies that manufacture or sell products
that figure prominently in the submitted paper, or with companies that
manufacture or sell competing products. (This includes ownership,
employment, consultancy arrangements, or service as an officer or board
member.)
- Due to the complexity of the selection process, deadlines will be enforced.
- NAALT will select papers to be presented at the conference, as well as posters.
- Selected papers and posters will be printed in the 2011 NAALT Proceedings.
- Authors of papers selected for presentation at the 2011 NAALT conference will receive discounted registration of $399.

We will notify you by March 1st, 2011 if your abstract has been
accepted. Those whose abstracts are accepted for presentation at the
conference will then need to provide no later than March 14th, 2011:
- a biography of yourself,including professional credentials, i.e. MD, PT, etc.
- a summary of your talk for use in the Conference Program (limited to 200 words)
    a) Add Instructional Level: Introductory, Intermediate or Advanced
    b) Add 1 or 2 Learning Outcomes
- and the final complete abstract for distribution to attendees.
